WebComponents = Yes More Modularity Finally.

Recently, while watching Google IO this year, I picked up on their new library Polymer. And it looks promising, its implements the long awaited web components w3c draft with adequate polyfill.

The basic gist is that you can create custom html tags that are able to contain complex meanings to be rendered by the browser see here. This in combination with the Shadow Dom and html templates basically makes the old jquery plugin days obsolete, and may finally help facilitate true html/javascript based modular design.

Simply put WebComponents are a win for the internet and if you haven’t had any time to look at them I encourage you to try it out for size. In a future post , I’ll talk at length about how I’ve modularlized my custom html widgets using WebComponents!
